Moving Hacks – Resident Relocation

Did you know anyone who thinks moving is easy?

NO ONE, that is who, except for Relocation Stations partners. When you mention that you’re moving people usually gaze at you with empathetic eyes. Putting all your belongings into boxes just so that they can be unpacked again is nobodies favourite activity. So we found some amazing moving tips that will make going to a new place easier than you ever thought possible. Check out these innovative moving hacks below.

Compare removal costs

For those who are taking all their property and furniture with them, you will probably need to enlist the help of a removal company. To get up to five local quotes instantly, click here and fill out the online application form on Relocation Station.

Slide clothes on hangers directly into garbage bags.

Unpacking will be a breeze. Once the moving team has brought in all your belongings and clothes, the easiest way to unpack is to hang the hangers in your closet and remove the plastic bags and, VOILA! 80% of your bedroom unpacked.

Put cotton balls in your makeup compacts so they do not break.

They act as a cushion inside fragile powder cosmetics. Our moving partners try to be as careful as possible, but in the event of your precious makeup bag tumbling over, your makeup should sustain minimal damage if you cushion them with cotton balls.

Put essential appliances (like your coffee maker) in a laundry basket.

This way, you can put them on your counter right away in your new place. After a long day of carrying in boxes and suitcases, a nice cup of coffee is just the thing to relax. Make sure your essential appliances are easily accessible, like your kettle and or percolator.

Cut triangles in boxes about 1/3 of the way down to create handles for easy carrying.

Relocation Station &aposs services include packing and wrapping but, should you decide to tackle the task yourself, cut triangles on the sides of the boxes to make carrying them around easier!

Ensure your mobile phone is fully charged and you have got your charger handy on the day.

No one wants to stress about not being able to get a hold of the removal company bringing your items to your new home so make sure your phone is charged, put a double point plug and your charger in your bag, so you can keep your phone charged.

Put screws and bolts from bits of furniture in freezer bags.

Then stick the bag to the relevant bit of furniture with masking tape.

Move your furniture into the new house first.

Otherwise, you will end up moving boxes around again to make room.

Make sure there are lightbulbs.

You do not want to have to go to the shops mid-move or not notice until suddenly it is too dark.

It might seem like a bit extra at first, but you will be thankful for it when it comes to unpacking at the other end.
